- 1–1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1–1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (1 stick)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 1–1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 large apple (peeled, cored, and chopped into small pieces)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.
- Mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon in a large bowl.
- Cream the butter and sugars in another bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing until fully combined.
- Pour in the milk gradually while mixing on low speed until combined.
- Combine the dry and wet mixtures gently with a spatula.
- Add the chopped apples and fold them into the batter.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then on a wire rack.
- Glaze by mixing confectioners’ sugar, additional cinnamon, and water; drizzle over the cooled bread.
Notes
Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream. For variations, consider adding nuts or chocolate chips.
