Ingredients

  • 11/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (1 stick)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 11/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 large apple (peeled, cored, and chopped into small pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon in a large bowl.
  4. Cream the butter and sugars in another bowl until light and fluffy.
  5. Add vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing until fully combined.
  6. Pour in the milk gradually while mixing on low speed until combined.
  7. Combine the dry and wet mixtures gently with a spatula.
  8. Add the chopped apples and fold them into the batter.
  9. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
  10. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then on a wire rack.
  12. Glaze by mixing confectioners’ sugar, additional cinnamon, and water; drizzle over the cooled bread.

Notes

Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream. For variations, consider adding nuts or chocolate chips.
