  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 and 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 4 large apples, peeled and diced (775 grams)
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, cubed (4 tbsp)
  • 2 tbsp apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (206 grams)
  • 6 tbsp salted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp heavy cream
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 and 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp allspice
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 and 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Blend the softened salted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time and add vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.
  5. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture gradually, stirring until combined.
  6. Fold the diced apples into the dough.
  7. Melt salted butter for caramel in a saucepan; add brown sugar and apple cider and stir.
  8. Cook until the caramel mixture reaches a gentle boil, about 4-6 minutes.
  9. Scoop mounds of dough onto lined baking sheets.
  10. Spoon caramel sauce over each mound.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Cool slightly and top with the prepared crumble topping.

Notes

For different variations, try adding chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruits. For a gluten-free version, use a 1:1 gluten-free blend.
