A refreshing and vibrant mocktail combining sweet blueberries, aromatic basil, and floral lavender for a delightful summer sip.


Ingredients

  • Fresh Blueberries: 1 pint, muddled
  • Fresh Basil Leaves: 1 cup, chopped
  • Fresh Lemon Juice: ½ cup (approximately the juice of 2 lemons)
  • Lavender Simple Syrup: ¾ cup
  • Soda Water: 1½ cups
  • Ice Cubes
  • Sugar: 1 cup (for lavender syrup)
  • Water: 1 cup (for lavender syrup)
  • Lavender Buds: ½ cup (food grade, for lavender syrup)

Instructions

  1. Make the Lavender Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and ½ cup of food-grade lavender buds. Place it over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves. Once it starts simmering, reduce the heat and let it brew for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, remove it from the heat and let it cool completely. Strain out the lavender buds using a fine-mesh sieve.
  2. Prepare the Blueberries and Basil: In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add your pint of fresh blueberries. Muddle them gently with a muddler or the back of a spoon until they’re crushed but not completely liquefied. Add the chopped fresh basil leaves to the muddled blueberries and give them a gentle muddle.
  3. Add Lemon Juice and Lavender Syrup: Pour in the fresh lemon juice and ¾ cup of lavender simple syrup to the muddled mixture. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Combine with Soda Water: Fill tall glasses halfway with ice cubes. Divide the blueberry-basil mixture among the glasses, then top with soda water. Give it a gentle stir to mix everything together.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with a sprig of basil, a few whole blueberries, and a sprinkle of lavender buds on top. Serve immediately.

Notes

Feel free to substitute with mint or other berries for a twist. Add more lemon juice if the drink is too sweet.
