Description

A fragrant and flavorful basil rice that’s perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water or vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water to remove excess starch.
  2. Sauté the garlic in olive oil over medium heat for about 1 minute.
  3. Combine the rinsed rice with the garlic in the saucepan and stir for a minute.
  4. Add the water or vegetable broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
  5. Fluff the rice with a fork after removing it from heat and add the basil, seasoning with salt and pepper.

Notes

For added flavor, use vegetable broth instead of water. Feel free to spice it up with ingredients like lemon, cheese, or nuts.
