2¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)

2 cups sharp cheddar, shredded

1–2 jalapeños, chopped

1 cup warm water (105–110°F)

3 Tbsp honey

4 Tbsp salted butter, melted

1 large egg
Optional Honey Butter:

6 Tbsp butter + 3 Tbsp honey + flaky salt
Instructions

Mix Dry: In a large bowl, whisk flour, yeast, salt, cheddar, and jalapeños (toss jalapeños and cheese in flour first!).

Whisk Wet: In another bowl, whisk warm water, honey, melted butter, and egg.

Combine & Rest: Stir wet into dry until shaggy. Cover, let rise 1 hr in warm spot.

Shape & Proof: Scrape into greased 9×5” loaf pan. Let rise again 30–45 mins.

Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake 25–30 mins until golden and hollow-sounding. Tent with foil if browning too fast.

Cool & Finish: Cool 10 mins in pan, then on rack. Brush with honey butter, sprinkle with flaky salt. Rest 20 mins before slicing.
