Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt 1/2 cup of butter over low heat in a medium saucepan.
  3. Mix in 1 cup of sugar until well combined.
  4. Add in 2 large eggs, one at a time, and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  5. Combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/3 cup of cocoa powder, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder in a separate bowl.
  6. Blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 8×8-inch baking pan.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
