Ingredients

- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup maple syrup or agave nectar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup additional unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Gather all your ingredients.
- Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Combine the wet ingredients in another bowl.
- Mix the wet and dry ingredients together until just combined.
- Prepare an 8×8 square baking dish.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes.
- Cool for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Slice and serve as desired.
Notes
Add nuts or dried fruits for extra flavor. Can be enjoyed plain or with a dollop of Greek yogurt.
